When crafts and the love of glass come together

Introducing my creations

My parents are creative and artistic, so maybe there's some creativity in my DNA. Drawing, painting, crafting and climbing trees. But mostly, seeing the world in my own way.

As a child, I wanted to become a glassblower. We had gone on vacation to Sweden, where we visited the glassworks of Orrefors and Kosta Boda. At the time, they were still large factories employing many people. Since then, the factories no longer exist and have been transformed into studios trying to attract tourists to keep the history of Swedish glass alive.

I persued a creative education, which started in high school, leading to a photo-video art program. By then, I had discoverd the magic of the camera and createf series on cloudformations I could see from my bedroom window. I made portrets of friends and found a soul in buildings that had been left behind aimlessly.

Yet the idea of one day blowing glass never quite went away. Sometime in the spring of 2018, I attended a glasblowing workshop with my mom (M.V.L.) at Het Glazenhuis in Lommel, under the guidance of Sebastiaan Coppens. That's when I was bitten by the glassbugs again. In september of that same year, I began a course at IKA (Institute of Art and Craft). That's where I took my first steps into the wonderful world of glassblowing. For the first three years, I mostly made 'impressions of a waterglass' and learned how to blow into molds. I had the opportunity to experiment with various techniques.

Right after COVID, I decided to devote more time into glassblowing. There are so many techniques, making it impossible to master them all in the limited time I have. Twice a week, I try to free up a few evenings a week to dive deeper into a hobby that's getting a bit out of hand.

Since then, I've taken classes at the Riksglasskolan in Nybro (Sweden) and completed several weekend internships at The Glasfactory in Bodaglasbruk (Sweden). I also attended a masterclass at Het Glazenhuis in Lommel, led by Sam Aldridge.
